Scatha

Scatha was one of the greatest of the dragons to infest the Grey Mountains of the north. Scatha's lair was in the southern slopes of Ered Mithrin. Of his life little is known, except that he was slain by Fram son of Frumgar (an ancestor of Eorl the Young) in the early days of the Éothéod roughly 2000 TA. In his hoard was found a silver horn, the Horn of Rohan later given to Meriadoc Brandybuck by Éowyn.

It's possible, as a flightless dragon, that Scatha participated in the attack on Gondolin and looted the city after it's fall. Thus Elvish swords, Glamdring, Orcrist, and Sting, may have been part of the hoard that Fram now possessed. After Scatha's demise, the dwarves also claimed the hoard (partially justified as the Horn of Rohan was said to be dwarven made) and slew Fram and made off with some of the hoard including the swords.
